The PISA Film Kalapu, brought to you by PISA and the Ministry for Pacific Peoples. Will be holding an ONLINE event screening two Samoan short films. Join us in celebration of Samoan Langugage Week with the screening of Va Tapuia & Liliu. Followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers Tusi Tamasese and Jeremiah Tauamiti. Va Tapuia (PG) - Taro planter Lui’s grief for his dead wife is blighting his life and crops. A widow, Malia, is bound by anger to the grave of her abusive husband, as the rising sea slowly drowns it. When Lui and Malia meet by chance, he’s provided with a path from his hurt.
Liliu (G) - An ambitious court interpreter risks everything when a wrongfully imprisoned Chief fights to get back to her stranded grandchildren.
