This event is for any Pacific Islands Writers at any stage of their career (from emerging to experienced) aimed to provide an opportunity to network, to work on your own projects and to find out more about the upcoming opportunities for Writers in Aotearoa.

Special Guest Speaker:
Sela Jane Hopgood is a journalist, currently the Pacific communities editor at The Spinoff. Previously she was at RNZ Pacific for nearly 5 years as a reporter, presenter for their current affairs show Pacific Waves and newsreader for their daily bulletins that went out to the Pacific region. She is a wife and mother, as well as a daughter to Tongan parents who migrated to Aotearoa in the early 70s. Sela Jane was a Middlemore baby and was raised in Favona, Mangere, with her schooling taking place in nearby schools in the area. She has been a recipient of the Mental Health Foundation media grant in 2021 highlighting one of her career defining moments, which was on perinatal depression among Pasifika mothers.

Please bring along your own personal devices to write on or your own notebook and pen- whatever your preference is for the Personal Writing session.
