About the Event
Ngā Aho Whakaari, PASC and PISA will be hosting a roundtable discussion, exclusively for organisation members, around the topics of Story Sovereignty, Intellectual Property, Cultural Safety and Meaningful Collaborations.
When the opportunities for diverse stories become available, as creators, it is important to know the realities of the production landscape.
What is it like as a creative POC to navigate the intricacies of screen production in spaces that have historically favoured the majority? What is cultural safety and how can you bring it about? How can you assert the cultural values you bring to a project? In a creative industry dependent on collaboration, who gets to own the project? How do you define a meaningful collaboration and what do you gain from it?
Questions like these (along with those from event attendees) will be answered by an assembled panel on a Zoom-based korero on Thursday 1 October at 7:00pm. Facilitated by Dr. Shuchi Kothari, this frank and insightful discussion features Hanelle Harris (creator of SIS, Baby Mamas Club), Becky Kuek (creator of Tales of Nai Nai) and Marina McCartney (director Vai, The Return).
As this online event has limited capacity, please make sure to register your interest quickly by filling in the registration form.
